Shama means to hear ‘intelligently’ this means to 'discern' and ‘obey.’
Obedience is when we hear and understand at His feet.
He needs us to be sealing in the ‘understanding’ He wants His people to know ‘how it is.’
But also more importantly ‘Who He is’ His is the voice we need to listen to, among the competition of other voices, His is the one that must be obeyed.
In the Hebrew (strongs word H8085) שׁמע Shama
שׁSHIN in the ancient pictograph is teeth…hungering for
מMEM in the ancient pictograph is water….the Word of life
עAYIN in the ancient pictograph is an eye… His light and revelation
To hear intelligently means to divide the Truth of the Word and ‘own it’.
When people do not listen they often compare themselves to others and undermine what God has spoken, they undermine that which the Lord had honored them in.
The Lord would have us to listen to Him. This is to live in ‘Shama’. This is to hunger to know His Word and seal the revelation.
Shma- the account of Naaman’s healing
When Elisha told Naaman to go and wash at the Jordan seven times he had to listen.
This means he honored the seal of what was instructed by Gehazi, Elisha’s servant and was healed.
Shama is seen in his account.
Shin means to hunger. Naaman sought out the God of Israel.
At first Naaman was wroth He wanted the prophet to strike his hand on his behalf, after all he was the king but the Lord awoke him into the pattern of His way. God did not only want Naaman to be healed, He wanted Naaman to be released into His ordinances and way.
2Ki 5:11 But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper.
MEM
Mem is the water representing the Word. Naaman dipped himself in the water and was purified he had to do this seven times. He had to commit to the fullness of what God had in mind.
2Ki 5:14 Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean. Naaman was healed
AYIN
‘letter Ayin’ speaks of the new seeing,
Naaman had healing as He submitted to the Lord’s revelation. The seven lamps represent the seven Spirits of God. When Naaman dipped seven times in the Jordan, prophetically speaking, he was immersing himself into the fullness of the Spirit and this brought wholeness.
Naaman wanted the prophet to come out to him, but the Lord had Naaman discern the pattern of HIS way and listen. He had to seal out his arguments and activate his healing. He separated into the Word and obeyed it.
The Lord would have us to be in Sabbath, to rest and be content in where He has spoken. One of the words to define shama is ‘to be content’. We have to be content in the revelation we are to walk in. It is right that we are content in what we have and move out of what He gave. This is our portion in Him.
Heb_13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
We are called to meet Him in the seal of His Authority. As Naaman honored the instruction, he met the Healer.
